Dressing Marilyn: How a Hollywood Icon Was Styled by William Travilla out THIS Thursday!

Dressing Marilyn: How a Hollywood Icon Was Styled by William Travilla… written by Andrew Hansford. It’s quite a mouthful to say and takes a long time to type but we guarantee it’s worth reading.

Any vintage, style and of course, Marilyn Monroe fan should go and pick this book up when it hits shelves on Thursday 13th October. It features an in-depth look at some of Marilyn’s most iconic dresses made by William Travilla for her movies and the inspiration and story behind them, as well as lots of other little gems.

One aforementioned gem is a hand-written note to William Travilla by the Hollywood icon herself, reading: “Please dress me forever, I love you, Marilyn.”

You’ll be surprised with just how many of Marilyn’s iconic dresses the designer was responsible for… and yes, he was the man behind the classic white halter neck dress that she wore in The Seven Year Itch (above).

Christian Louboutin Gets His Own Book

This post has been lurking around i our drafts for about a week and for that, we apologise because news like this deserves to be shouted from the rooftops. Christian Louboutin is launching his first ever book to coincide with the brand's 20th anniversary. The coffee table book will contain in-depth interviews, candid personal photos and professional photography of Louboutin's iconic shoes by the talented Philippe Garcia. As if that wasn't enough, the designer has also snapped up Dita von Teese, Kristin Scott-Thomas and Mika to contribute to his latest project. Hands up if you're excited…

Lady Gaga Unveils her Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson Cover

Lady Gaga's photobook that she created with Terry Richardson will be landing on coffee tables everywhere on November 22nd, but the Lady has given fans a sneak peek at the cover. It's a lot more understated than we thought it would be - we were sort of expecting some 3D, almost holographic and most definitely controversial images that would surely ruffle a few feathers. Maybe even cause some bookshops to refuse to stock it…you know, something extreme.

But Mother Monster always surprises us - and now is no different. This is a striking image though - it speaks volumes and we can't wait to flick through all the pages!

Viktor and Rolf Release Fairy Tale Book

Not just a coffee table book, oh no, Viktor and Rolf have gone one step further. The Dutch dream-team have produced a book of fairy tales, complete 12 original stories and exclusive illustrations drawn by the duo themselves.

We always had Viktor and Rolf products down for being straight out of a fairytale - their Flowerbomb fragrance has something magical about it, making us all feel like Princesses when we wear it.

So what can we expect from the book? The Little Dragon Butterfly and lonely Disco Hedgehog sound like characters we can't wait to read about, while we naturally get our Princess fix with tales of Princess Giselle in The Golden Dress and Princess Shanilla in The Fifth Perfume Bottle.

Sounds very enchanting - it's out in October so we haven't got that long to wait!

A Sneak Peek Inside Carine Roitfeld's Book

Ooo, it's like Christmas - what a treat! Vogue have only gone and leaked a few pages from Carine Roitfeld's highly anticipated book 'Irreverent' so, us being the opportunists we are, have properly indulged in them for the past 20 minutes. We are in total awe of her involvement in fashion over the years and her presence in the industry is more than evident in the few snippets of the book.

So glad this book is written in English because we all know it will be filled with little gems and (hopefully) secrets! The candid pictures are always a favourite with any book and these are no different, especially since she has an A-List photography team at her beck and call.

Must-read: Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty the book

For those of you who haven't been to the exhibit at the Met yet, or who live too far away like us (*sniff*), the Savage Beauty book could well be the next best thing. The book, by Andrew Bolton and with contributions from Susannah Frankel and Tim Blanks, acts as an accompaniment to the exhibition. It features some if the most famous and iconic designs made famous by the legend that is the late L
ee McQueen, a look back at his career with his own commentary, as well as an interview with the woman of the moment, current Alexander McQueen Creative Director Sarah Burton. A stunning book with 240 pages full of beautiful words and imagery.
