Dressing Marilyn: How a Hollywood Icon Was Styled by William Travilla out THIS Thursday!

Dressing Marilyn: How a Hollywood Icon Was Styled by William Travilla… written by Andrew Hansford. It’s quite a mouthful to say and takes a long time to type but we guarantee it’s worth reading.

Any vintage, style and of course, Marilyn Monroe fan should go and pick this book up when it hits shelves on Thursday 13th October. It features an in-depth look at some of Marilyn’s most iconic dresses made by William Travilla for her movies and the inspiration and story behind them, as well as lots of other little gems.

One aforementioned gem is a hand-written note to William Travilla by the Hollywood icon herself, reading: “Please dress me forever, I love you, Marilyn.”

You’ll be surprised with just how many of Marilyn’s iconic dresses the designer was responsible for… and yes, he was the man behind the classic white halter neck dress that she wore in The Seven Year Itch (above).

Johnny Depp Covers Vanity Fair November

Swoooon! Who says a cover star has to be a female? Johnny Depp is arguably still one of the hottest men in Hollywood - a heartthrob if you will. We applaud Vanity Fair's decision to put him on yet another one of their covers and think other mags should follow suit. We know there's plenty of Johnny to go around!

Kate Winslet Covers Harper's Bazaar November

English mag, English rose - it all makes perfect sense. Although we don't usually see Kate with the feline eye flick favoured by the classic Hollywood greats like Brigitte Bardot and even Cleopatra, she manages to look both classic and contemporary all at the same time. And despite the heavy make-up and inevitable airbrushing, she still looks herself. Kudos to photographer Tom Munro, he's done a gorgeous job

Heidi Klum Launches Her Shine Fragrance in Hollywood

That's quite a big bottle there Heidi, you sure you can carry it?! Although we probably won't be buying such a large version, we are more than tempted to try it as we know Heidi Klum won't put her name to something unless it's pure perfection. We love it when advertising goes back to basics and is very literal, so we assume that the mandarins and pears scattered around mean they are incorporated in the smell? If that's the case, we are even more willing to try it!

Daily Style Crush: Hailee Steinfeld in Versace Resort

The Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party last week was attended by some of the hottest rising stars in Tinsel Town. Cute next generation actresses turned up in even cuter (and ever-so stylish) dresses so we've been struggling to pick a favourite look as so many stood out for us.

Little Hailee Steinfeld has blossomed into a style princess practically overnight grabbing the attention of Miu Miu along the way (they snapped her up to front their recent campaigns just in cast anyone forgot) so we're not the least bit surprised with her flourishing on the red carpet. Her asymmetrical Versace Resort 2012 dress wouldn't look great on everyone, but on Hailee, it's perfection. We like how she took inspiration from the catwalk and went with yellow accessories - bright and beautiful!

NEW Pic of Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher

Let's all admit that Meryl Streep is 'Hollywood icon' personified. She throws herself into each and every role and loses herself in her characters which is why she has and will always be remembered as one of the true Hollywood greats. Taking all of this into consideration, we still can't believe just how uncanny the resemblance of her as Margaret Thatcher is. We knew she'd do a knock-out job, we didn't doubt the Oscar winner for a second. but there's something almost haunting about how much Ms Streep has absorbed her new film role. We've seen her in action in the film trailer, but there's something about the poster that's in a league of its own. As Tyra Banks says, it's all in the eyes.

Miss Piggy's Wardrobe is Probably More Impressive Than Yours

If Zac Posen and Christian Louboutin are lining up to custom make you some clothes and shoes respectively, then we take that back. If they aren't then we stand by our statement that Miss Piggy's wardrobe has it better than all of ours put together!

As with any big budget Hollywood movie, costumes are a very important factor, so why should the upcoming Muppets film be any different? Especially when Miss Piggy plays the editor of French Vogue. Meryl Streep got kitted out in her fair share of Hermes for her role in Devil Wears Prada, so of course Miss Piggy should get the superstar designer treatment too. Zac Posen has custom-made Miss Piggy a miniature dress of one of his runway outfits (no word on which one yet), while Christian Louboutin has made her a beautiful pair of red-soled shoes.

Jealous doesn't even begin to describe how we are feeling right now! The Muppets movie is out soon and we are looking forward to watching it, even if it's purely for the fashion!

Emily Browning inspires us to go goth

Emily Browning rocked the Red Carpet in a very gothic get-up which got us thinking about the gothic trend which has made its way back.

Dark lips have been seen on some of the hottest celebs recently (Jessie J, Marina Diamandis...), smokey eyes have been the firm favourite for the Hollywood divas (think the Kardashians) and we recently blogged about the lace trend which is taking over, so how about putting it all together?

Here's what we think you need to be inspired by Emily Browning's look and go gothic:

1. Boots fishnet tights; £3… 2. Boots eyelashes; £6.64…3. Coast dress; £135…4. Topshop lipstick; £8…5. YSL Exaggerated Lashes mascara; £22…6. Lily Lo mineral blusher; £7.29…7. Dressrail biker boots; £15…7. Urban Decay Confession; £10.40…8. Urban Decay heavy metal glitter eyeliner; £13

Vanessa Hudgens covers Nylon Magazine

Vanessa Hudgens seems to be everywhere these days. She was looking toned and gorgeous on the cover of Shape magazine, and here she is looking just as good on the cover of Nylon magazine wearing a Burberry Prorsum jacket and Rag & Bone skirt. Embracing the brights theme of the current season, she looks every inch the fashion savvy Hollywood star.

Kat Graham wows in The Blonds

Yesterday we wrote about her Vampire Diaries costar Nina Dobrev, but now it's Kat Graham's Fashion Compendium time. The actress and up and coming solo artist was rocking a corset dress from The Blonds.

Both Kat and the model wear the look so differently, with Miss Graham bringing some vamp-chic and a harder edge to it with her silver cuffs (which we totally love by the way) and boots, whilst the model goes all vintage elegant with minimal jewellery but bold red lips and nails, like a true Hollywood movie star.

It just goes to show that one dress can create oh so many different looks.

Which one do you prefer? We personally can't decide.
