Is Britney's Criminal Video Too Reminiscent of the Recent Riots?

You may be aware by now that the one and only Miss Britney Spears is on England soil to shoot the music video to her next single, Criminal. However, Britters has been seen wandering the streets of London (well, her music video set) with a prop gun, which Hackney council say is insensitive due to the riots that affected England a few months ago.

Ian Rathbone of Hackney council said, "I think she should apologise and make a sizeable donation to a Hackney charity that deals with young people... for the rudeness and damage she's done to this community."

As disgraceful as we think the riots were, we don't really think a blonde, American pop star had anything to do with them and we're pretty sure the people of London and all those who watch her music video will feel the same way as the council. Luckily, Britney's 'people' weren't scared off and the filming of the video was resumed. There's nothing like a bit of controversy surrounding a music video…now we're anticipating its debut more than ever.

See Britney's Criminal Single Cover

It's quite artsy isn't it? There's nothing like a bit of Photoshop over-indulgence to make some artwork stand out. We're looking forward to finally watching the video - it was shot right here in London don'tcha know!

Glamour Prove That Britney's Still Got It...

Anyone who disagrees simply needs to look at these pictures of Britney Spears from October's Glamour magazine and take in the sexiness…We rest our case!

Britney Spears is Glamour's October Cover Girl

Fresh from wowing everyone at the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend, Britney Spears is now our Glamour October cover girl - hooray for a whole month of Britney!  Let's hope for BritBrit's sake that her dress isn't made of real feathers otherwise she may find herself at the centre of a PETA row, Rihanna stylie. And we'd hate for her to get any bad press because we should give her credit for looking gorgeous and fiercer than ever!

Mega excited to buy this when it comes out, not just for the Britney story, but because the cover lines have us hooked! We have a sneaky feeling the editorial pictures are going to be stunning too, so watch this space when we get our grubby little hands on them!

The Rest of the Best of the VMAS

Lady Gaga as alter ego Jo Calderone and Britney Spears at the MTV VMAs 2011

When Queen Bea makes an announcement, it's easy to forget that the VMAs were about more than just one bootylicious lady and her newly expanding family. Not only were some of the greatest artists in the music industry recognised, they also proved why they deserved to be there in the first place with an array of memorable performances (Adele and Beyonce blew us away!)  But here at good old Fashion Compendium HQ, the peak of our night was witnessing what all the stars arrived in...

Yes, there were a few celebs who should have, as the old cliche goes, sacked the stylist, but actually there was a pretty good mishmash of great looks around. It's pretty much anything goes at music award ceremonies, which is why although it isn't the start of the year, aka awards season, we can always look forward to the fashion on display.

Who do we have here then?

Beyonce (obv) and Kelly Rowland, in a gorgeous Falguni & Shane Peacock dress. I was lucky enough to see the A/W 2011 collection at London Fashion Week and knew that it would take a true goddess to pull off some of the feathered numbers…Kelly Rowland was a vision of perfection and this was exactly what I had in mind when I saw it on the catwalk.

Young Hollywood - Selena Gomez in Julien Macdonald, Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus in Roberto Cavalli - so grown up and sophisticated. They've all been there, done that when it comes to showing the press that they've left their Disney days behind with their various antics, *ahem* bong, Miley Cyrus *ahem* but this time, they've chosen to do it the demure and elegant way, showing real maturity!

Katy Perry's Atelier Versace number was definitely the way we would go if we knew the dress code was bright, colourful and (the right side of) crazy. Nicki Minaj, bless her…well we personally wouldn't go for quite the same attire as she would, but she is a performer at the end of the day - out there to get noticed and make a statement and what have you. We admire her bravery and in a Nicki Minaj kind of way, she pulled it off. Disclaimer: This look is only really advised for Nicki Minaj - it may even make Miss Lady of Gaga squirm a little. Yikes.

Love how Adele did it for the Brits and sported a Burberry dress - respect! Britney also scrubbed up well in a Moschino dress, making us old-school nineties kids proud that she was our idol back in the day!

Heather Morris covers Women's Health

Heather Morris talks to Women's Health about how hard she trained before filming alongside Britney Spears for the famous Britney themed Glee episode, and shares some of her exercise secrets. It's a great article; make sure you pick up a copy of Women's Health to read the full editorial and to see some more fab pics of a very toned and beautiful Heather Morris.

Kim Kardashian v Britney Spears in Herve Leger

Kim Kardashian was spotted in the dress first (and very nearly made it onto our style crush list, if it wasn't for an overwhelming amount of Cannes fashion to choose from), then almost immediately, Britney Spears stepped out in the same Herve Leger jacquard dress putting her own stylish spin on it. The dress is rather gorgeous and looks great on both of them, they clearly have great taste. But who do you think wore it better? What say you?

Britney Spears covers Harpers Bazaar June/July

It feels like the late nineties/early noughties all over again; Britney Spears adorning magazine covers left right and centre, with the look of fresh faced childhood innocence. If you leave the tabloids out of it, nothing much appears to have changed over the years if this cover is anything to go by. She still has that perfect Hollywood smile, gorgeous long blonde locks, and the world is still obsessed with her every move. We've been Britney lovers from the start, and the fact that the world still can't get enough of her fills us with pride. Alex Lubomirski did a fine job at photographing the original princess of pop. We wait with baited breath to see what the editorial images look like.

Heather Morris dances for Esquire

Never one to overlook a Glee-related post. This video of Heather Morris, aka Brittany S. Pierce, busting some very impressive moves for
Esquire certainly brightened up our day even more than the sunshine. We definitely think there should be more Glee dance numbers; just think of which other cast members could be shielding dancing talent? A Puck/Sam dance-off would just be delightful, wouldn't it?

Britney Spears in Dolce and Gabbana for Femme Fatale promos

First, it looked like Kylie was bestest friends with Dolce and Gabbana, but now it looks like Britney Spears is another contender for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana BFF.

She is seen kitted out in Dolce and Gabbana clobber for the promotional pictures for her new album Femme Fatale. Looks like the Britney we knew and loved is back for good and here to stay if these pictures are anything to go by. The picture on the top right of the princess of pop looking like a golden goddess is by far our favourite.

Britney Spears in Out magazine

First Lindsay Lohan, now Britney Spears; these ladies sure know how to make a comeback. Who knew Britney had a) those inner thigh tattoos and b) those seemingly rock hard abs?

She’s definitely back to her old superstar self, and Out magazine have done well to recognise and take advantage of that. Definitely one of our favourite covers of the magazine.
