We saw the first picture of Glee's Heather Morris a few days ago but didn't really think anything of it. After all, we knew it was a Tyler Shields piece we were clapping eyes on and with Tyler Shields, all convention and barriers go out the window.
But…and here comes a big Kim Kardashian sized but(t)…we didn't see the close up picture of the bruise - or any of the others for that matter - and although we weren't strictly offended ourselves, we did see what all the commotion was about. Blood is one thing (he's photographed a number of "bloody" stars including Lindsay Lohan) because it's all a bit supernatural/Twilight. We like to think of it as Tim Burton/Quentin Tarrantino stylie, i.e. not real but with a signature distinctive style associated with the artist.
However, these pictures have been criticised for promoting and glamourising violence and domestic abuse which Tyler Shields definitely did not mean to portray. The artist himself told The Daily Mail: "In no way did we even think about promoting domestic violence. A lot of people have been sending me death threats because they are angry I am promoting violence, which was never the case. However we do have people talking so I will auction off 3 photos for $100,000 each and I will give every penny to charity if they sell."
Good on him; we have a feeling they will sell just because they feature Glee's very own Heather Morris and because there's been a huge furore around it.
