Is this the demise of D&G?

John Galliano’s time at Christian Dior may have come to an abrupt end, but it looks like hot money-making machine D&G may have a similar fate. According to Vogue, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana want to focus their efforts on one brand only favouring traditional brand Dolce and Gabbana to its younger counterpart, resulting in a merge of both brands respectively.

The merge is quite puzzling, as D&G is hugely successful and in no financial turmoil whatsoever (what recession?!), but it just goes to show that money isn’t everything. The last collection is allegedly the S/S 2012 one, although anything could happen in the meantime. Keep your eyes peeled for more details.

The image above is a campaign picture for the D&G S/S 2011 collection photographed by Mario Testino. It will be sad to bid farewell to such a prestigious brand of clothing, so all hope lies in the fact that the news is nothing more than fabricated gossip. Fingers crossed!
